I absolutely love taking old pieces and updating them. You can’t beat the quality of old furniture, add a little paint plus love and you’ve got a unique piece for a lifetime!
This project was super fun and easy. Mainly because I already had the bar stools and animal print fabric involved. ;)
We recently repainted the kitchen and I finally decided it was time to update these second hand beauts.
I started by removing each seat and cleaning the stools.
Next, prep your paint area with an old drop cloth, sheet or paper bag.
Now the fun begins!
I decided to use Rustoleum Semi-Gloss in Anodized Bronze. Follow the instructions and be sure to cover all nooks and crannies with your first coat then let dry completely.
Next up, the cushion! You will need your material -I purchased one yard and cut the piece in half- and a staple gun.
Lay the fabric print down on a clean surface. Place the cushion face down and begin gathering the fabric tightly and secure with a staple. Seriously, the hardest step in this project is making sure you pull the fabric tight to ensure a smooth and clean finish. It’s a good idea to grab a buddy for this part. Extra hands are extremely helpful.
Continue to work your way around the cushion and double checking your work by flipping it over to view the facing. Work your way around until all pieces are secured. Cut any excess fabric.
Check on the base and double check to ensure it is completely covered. If it is, secure cushion to the base with the nails.
Grab a glass of sweet tea, sit back and enjoy your new bar stool!
